Artist statement
As a multi-disciplinary artist, I primarily work with painting. I draw inspiration from personal archives and my Sicilian and French origins to create surrealist pieces that explore the intricacies of identity, and transformation. In my painting, many of my figures have the iconic upper protuberance inspired by Artemis of Ephesus, symbolising femininity, creation, individuality and rebellion against societal norms especially the one that limit the role of women, most figures are nude and long- haired, embodying the animalistic side of humanity, hybrid of objects, animals or plants are also incorporated to explore the idea that we as individuals must adapt and evolve in order to survive, and that we all possess an innate capacity for transformation. My paintings feature wide range of colours, from bright, cool tones to darker, more gloomy shades. Each composition is carefully curated to ring attention to the details and interaction between the figures. Through my paintings and conceptual works, i explore the complexity of the human experience and aim to convey a sense of magic and optimism in the face of adversity.
I am dedicated to pushing my creative boundaries and constantly expanding my artistic horizons regardless of the medium i use. My goal is to create pieces that inspires, engage or sometime repulse but always entertain viewers.
